Digital Storybook
A digital storybook is like reading aloud to someone except that technology is used. Your "book" is made of pictures or short video clips that play like a slide show or movie. Your voice is pre-recorded. Power Point is recommended for beginners although other programs can be used. It is fun and can be fairly easy to make.
Your project that takes the place of a midterm is to create a DIGITAL STORYBOOK of your own. You may re-tell a traditional moʻolelo OR you may choose to tell your own - something that has happened in your lifetime to you, a family member, or in your place. Though we are fortunate to have our traditional moʻolelo available in print, we mustn't neglect recording our moʻolelo of today for it will become history for our keiki (children) and moʻopuna (grandchildren).
Your mo'olelo must have:
* pictures (drawings, photos, paintings, or googled - must have citations)
* text (English and/or Hawaiian)
* voice over
* minimum of 5 meiwi (literary devices) used appropriately
You may earn extra points for:
* using more meiwi appropriately
* creativity (music, your own singing/chanting, animations, putting into video format or setting power point to move automatically between sections and slides)
Make this assignment FUN…make it YOUR OWN…and make it something that you will keep FOREVER and use to teach others! :)
With permission from students, some digital storybooks were either used in these modules or shown as examples. Mahalo to these students for making the print come to life!
